images-1 Wale’s new mixtape “Back to the Feature” is here. The mixtape was mostly put together by the legendary producer 9th Wonder. It features artists like Talib Kweli, Joe Budden, Lady Gaga, Curren$y, Mike Posner, Big Sean, Bun B, Royce Da 5’9, K’naan, and Joell Ortiz. I know I’m late on it but I’ve been busy and I ripped my big toenail off so now I’m chillin on coden…cut me a little slack. Below is Yael Naim’s Song “New Soul” remixed with Wale and produced by BKS to give you a taste of the CD.

Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y are teaming up and putting out the mixtape “How Fly” this July. Most people know Khalifa from his single “Say Yeah” and Curren$y from his days with Lil’ Wayne’s label Young Money. The songs “Car Service” and “The Checkpoint” are the first two leaked from the upcoming mix. Wiz made an animated video for “The Checkpoint” which is below. The third song “rolling up” isn’t gunna be featured on the upcoming mixtape but is pretty good, ripping the Hi-Tek “Letter to the King” beat it’s a nice teaser to the mixtape. Late on these but take a listen if you haven’t heard em.

imagesAs Borat would say, VERY NICE! Reflection Eternal is back, Talib Kweli’s flows with Hi-Tek on the track. Check out “Back Again” and “Internet connection” for listen and download below. Most people know about Talib Kweli by now, but if Hi-Tek is a new name to you, I suggest you take a listen to some of the work he’s produced. The bottom video is one of my favorites tracks of his called “Josephine” which is by Ghostface Killah from his album More Fish. There’s another version of the same beat on Hi-Tek’s CD Hi-Teknology 2: The Chip which is also very good and is for download below.

Al Capwnd

n75825054261_5768Going through the web I came across these couple of songs that I’m really feeling. I have to give a shout out to 2mro’s Hip Hop for the intro. Out of London this group is really new and really unheard of. But their songs are just my type, I haven’t been off their Myspace for a couple days. Seems like a group just getting going so have a listen and see if you like it. The song “Don’t Panic” is the beat from ratatat’s “Wildcat” These are both demos. You can listen to their songs on their Myspace here

DSCN0970Damn, I remember packing up my stuff last year at Rothbury and thinking to myself, “It’s gunna be real hard for me to wait another year for this.” And just like that 14 days away from round 2. This picture is one I took at the Sound Tribe Sector 9 show at Rothbury last year.
Here’s another song for download from their CD “Peaceblaster”

Out of Pennsylvania Asher Roth‘s hit single “I Love College” is what made this artist well known. Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the song, I decided to give the rest of his debut album “Asleep in the Bread Isle” a chance. And I really enjoyed it, especially a few tracks that i put below. The first time I heard the track “Be By Myself” I was hooked. It features Cee-lo and has a great beat, great lyrics, and is a great song. The music video and download is below.

Download Asher Roth – Be By Myself

In some of the songs on the CD, I can see how people say Asher is a lot like Eminem, minus the messed up lyrics pretty much. But they are completely different artists in many ways. Asher has heard his fair share of the Eminem comparisons too and addressed it in this song called “As I Em”.

The video below is an “I Love College” remix by Brilliance all about Michigan State. It’s a good listen even to those who don’t go to MSU. Some good pictures of Cedarfest 2008 as well.

From just around the corner, Mike Posner attended Birmingham Groves High School. Within the last six months or so the name has gained popularity all over the country.

Posner put out the mixtape “A Matter of time” on March 1st. I know I’m late but this is a mixtape you must listen too. It features Big Sean on three tracks including the hit “Cooler than me”. Mike Posner and the Brain Trust is playing a show this friday (6/12) at clutch cargos with Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa (tickets 25$). A senior at Duke University Posner is in the recent wave of producers/artists coming out of college dorms and campuses. The mixtape is great, one of those that you can just let run and there is no need to flip songs. Great beats combined with nice vocals by Posner make “a matter of time” something you need to get asap. It’s a free download on itunes, and you can listen to the mixtape on his Myspace here. Also below, I got a new track Posner put out which is a remix to Soulja Boy’s “Kiss me through the phone”

Kasabian is an Indie rock band out of England who dropped their new album today called “West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum”. I got into this band by hearing their song “clubfoot” over and over again because it was in the intro to the XBOX 360 game Tony Hawk Project 8. That song was the third single from their debut album and the first to climb the charts, and is a staple at any Kasabian concert. They then put out the album “Empire” in 2006.  I was anticipating this new album coming out and wasn’t disappointed. The single “Fire” is real good and I’ve put the video below.

You can download the full album and listen to some of it on their Myspace here
